rock and f#@king roll, people!
Just a quick update from Austin in the midst of the uber-sexy South By Southwest Music Festival. We are dragging our alcohol-addled bodies all across this beautiful city, kissing a million asses and seeing all the
hip rock and rollers.
Highlights:
- Wednesday we played our showcase, which in the words of many sweaty attendees, was "kick-ass." You can read a review for yourself at
FXA wasn't too shabby. Our sincere thanks to everyone who came out to the show and to our new best friend Karen, who next time I'm here I will take up on the offer of food and a home-knitted sweater.
- Yesterday we spent all day going to shows and.....well...drinking. This place is insane. All you do is go to parties where bands play and they ply you with free liquor. We might move here.
- When I was warming up for our show, I went in to the venue's bathroom to take care of all pre-show business like any good rock and roller does and saw something you
don't see in Boston.....a mouthwash dispenser! As Gordon and Jordan have repeatedly told me, they take their drinking and driving seriously here in Texas.
- Brendan and I went to see the new Rich Robinson (he of Black Crowes fame) project, Hookah Brown. They were, how do you say....really frigging good. But before the show, some guy asked me if I was Rich Robinson. This would be kinda funny on its own, but to add to that today I was online and found this
Handsome Guy. Coincidence? Maybe, but I'm pretty sure I'm his twin brother and was somehow sold by his family to mine in a babies for guns deal. I guess we'll never know...
More later.....
